Goodman codes

Goodman

E1

Lockout

Low-fire PS stuck closed

Low-stage pressure switch is made with the inducer off.

Walk E1 in Diagnose

8 plates — walk the one on the cabinet

First check

1 Unplug the switch with the inducer off

On Goodman GMEC96 this code is the switch made when the inducer is not running. Unplug that switch only. Unplug the LPS. Code change = switch or water in the hose.

Expect: Code changes when the harness is open.

If fail: Wrong switch, or the IFC input is shorted.

If pass: Switch/hose path. Go to step 2.

The rest of the walkthrough is Diagnose.

On the plates

  • Unplug the LPS. If code changes, switch is welded or hose is holding residual draft.
  • Hose routed downhill to the collector? Water in the hose fakes a closed switch.
  • IFC input shorted — only after the switch ohms open.
  • Unplug the LPS. Code change = welded switch or water in the hose.
  • Same collector-hose physics as GR9T96 E1. Communicating does not fix a drowned trap.
  • Unplug the LPS. Code change = switch or water in the hose.
  • IFC input shorted only after the switch ohms open.
  • Unplug the low-rate switch. Code change = welded switch or water in the hose.

Plates that use E1

Same number, other makers

E1 on Goodman is not the same code on these plates.
