Walk d4 in Diagnose

2 plates — walk the one on the cabinet

First check

1 Read the plug / card on THIS cabinet

On Goodman GMVC96 the model plug or shared-data card must match this cabinet size. A 100 kBtu plug in an 80 cabinet overfires and limits. A leftover memory card after a control swap throws d0/d4-class codes. Card from a GMVM97, GMEC, or a different tonnage will read invalid on this IFC.

Expect: Plug / card part matches the rating plate and the replacement control bulletin.

The rest of the walkthrough is Diagnose.

On the plates

  • Card from a GMVM97, GMEC, or a different tonnage will read invalid on this IFC.
  • Reseat. If it still d4s, OEM card for this exact GMVC96 size — not a generic ‘ComfortBridge card.’
  • Do not mix Amana AMVM97 modulating cards into a two-stage GMVC96.
  • OEM card for this exact GMVM97 / GCVM97 size.
  • Reseat. d4 after a ‘universal ComfortBridge’ card is the card, not the valve.
