Low indoor airflow

Indoor airflow fell below the calculated minimum. Furnace stages down (high to low) and will halt if CFM reaches 0.

Walk b9 in Diagnose

3 plates — walk the one on the cabinet

First check

1 Is the wheel free?

Spin the Goodman GMVC80 blower by hand. Ice, debris, or a seized bearing is not a control problem. Confirm the motor type on this plate — serial ECM, 9-speed tap, or X-13 — before you grab a capacitor. Filter, coil, closed registers, undersized return.

Expect: Wheel free. Correct motor family for this IFC.

The rest of the walkthrough is Diagnose.

On the plates

  • Filter, coil, closed returns, crushed flex.
  • IFC CFM vs actual TES. b3 often rides along.
  • Do not raise heat CFM into a brick to ‘fix’ b9.
  • Filter, coil, closed registers, undersized return.
  • IFC heat/cool CFM setting vs the coil and the outdoor.
  • TES. A communicating motor will ramp into a brick and then b9 / E3.
