First check

1 Read the drive before you cycle power

On Bryant 581J photograph the VFD keypad or the unit-board fan alarm (OC, LU, OU, GF, OH, limp). Power-cycle wipes what you needed. Megger the motor with the drive disconnected. A wet rooftop motor after a rain is this code.

Expect: Live drive code written down. Line voltage at L1/L2/L3 of the drive.

The rest of the walkthrough is Diagnose.

On the plates

  • Megger the motor with the drive disconnected. A wet rooftop motor after a rain is this code.
  • Cable from drive to motor — insulation rubbed through the curb or the fan deck.
  • Do not reset-and-run a GF. That is a grounded winding or a damaged VFD output.
